Adding images as points on a map
Images can be used for mapping points. For example, a company logo or a small picture can be used instead of a generic symbol when plotting locations. If the data includes a range, a different image can be used for each range, by creating a thematic layer rather than a simple image layer.
Adding a simple image layer:
- Open a map template
- In the data view, find the schema you wish to be represented by an image and right mouse click
- Then select Add Map Layer… | Image

- Change the Layer Name if you wish, and the press Next
- Next, click on the button against the Image File line and pick up the image from your computer button against the Image File line and pick up the image from your computer

- This example uses a coffee cup that will be far too large for the map. In the format section shown in the screenshot, the scale has been reduced to 10%
- Click Create to view the images on the map
- If the scale reduction is too large or too small, use the Map Properties tab, Format | Scale (%) to adjust it
Adding several different images for one schema:
- Create a thematic layer in the usual way
- On the screen after the classes have been defined, change the Layer Type to Image
- On the next page, you then need to pick up an image for each of the different classes in the same way as above
