Selecting Items Within a Shape
When presenting a shape on a map (e.g. a DriveTime or Radius) it can be useful to identify all of the items within its boundary. The Browse Components feature allows you to get these records within a browse but is only available if a link exists between the schemas. However, this can be done with any shapes whilst also remaining on the map using the following method.
Step by step guide
This example demonstrates selecting all Postcode Districts within a DriveTime
Open your map
Set your drivetime as the Focus layer
If looking at a specific tagged record, you can reposition to this by using the Position to Tagged button on the Maps ribbon
Add Postcode Districts to your map
It is usually best to also adjust the layer order so that the drivetime is visible. You can do this within Map Properties, by dragging the relevant layers up/down in the list order
Click on the Drivetime to select it
Now click on Copy from within the Selection Shape section of the Maps ribbon

When the shape has been copied, you will notice that it has a thin pink outline

Set the Postcode Districts as the Focus layer
Next, click on Select from within the Selection Shape section of the Maps ribbon

The Postcode Districts directly within the shape should now be selected
Note: If you are selecting a boundary layer via this method, it will select only those where the centroid is within the boundary
To filter these further, you can now Tag these and use that tagged set freely within maps, browses and many of the other applications

You can now Tag these and use that tagged set freely in a browse or any other application within InSite.
To do this:
Click on Tag Selected from the Maps ribbon
Open a Browse on Postcode Districts
Click on Show Tagged Only
You will be left with a list of Postcode Districts that are in the shape, you can then add columns of your data to the browse
