Map selection functions

This tip will look at some of the least frequented map selection tools and how they can be applied.

Select Visible

The Select Visible button can be used as an alternative to the selection tools when selecting all the items from the Focus Layer within a map window. These can then be tagged allowing the points to be displayed exclusively on the map or within a browse.

Hiding items within a layer

You may want to hide some items on screen to provide more emphasis on a study area or remove irrelevant data.

To do this:

• Set the Focus Layer to the layer of interest

• Use one of the ‘Selection tools’ to identify the items that you would like removed from the map

• Select the Hide button and click anywhere on the map. These elements will be hidden from the map view

• Clicking on will remove the purple selection shape border
